Biography

Joe Silva is a second-year Ph.D. student in Health Services Research. He holds a B.S. in medical laboratory sciences from the University of Rhode Island and an Sc.M. in Epidemiology from Brown University. Joe's research interests focus on the intersection between infectious disease epidemiology and geographic health disparities. Recently, Joe has published research estimating risk-standardized influenza vaccination rates among US nursing home residents at the county level. He is currently working to expand on this work through innovative methodological advances to accurately identify geographic disparities in vaccination.
